Psalm 85
After I say the words,
After I storm away,
After I make myself a fool,
I wait to hear what he will say.
Without a reconciling hope
Without one redeeming deed,
I kneel before just anger;
I relinquish my consuming need.
His whisper answers right away;
An unexpected paradox:
Love and law intertwined,
Scandalous, unorthodox.
Complete, safe, prosperous,
Healthy, whole, and at home
Soul-safe, right with him,
His answer is always Shalom.
