Lord, here I am again,
with my family in our rented minivan.
Going to another church full of strangers.
Help me to be courageous
when I face another strange Sunday school class alone
and I’m beyond my comfort zone.
Help me to be patient
as I listen to Dad give the same presentation and message
for the umpteenth time.
Help me to be gracious to others
when my home overseas is unknowingly criticized,
or I’m asked those really ignorant questions.
Help me to be content,
if I have to watch my siblings,
or if I’m overlooked by my peers.
We’re in the parking lot now, Lord.
Soon we’ll walk through those doors.
I don’t have to be remembered here as being cool,
or witty, or wise, or funny, or smart.
I’d like to be all these things and more…
but they don’t really matter.
Above all, help me to be a good ambassador here,
for my family and other missionaries,
but for You and Your kingdom above all else.
Please help me to bring honor to Your name.
To You be all the glory.
Amen
