She’s hurting, but does anyone really care?
All they do is stand and stare
Then turn away to face the realities of their own day
Not giving a second thought to someone else’s pain
I wish someone would stop and take a second
They might see something else, I reckon
They say the eyes are the windows of the soul
But how on earth do you know?
If you’re too busy, too consumed
By social media and the news
Then, when the person is no more
We cry as if our hearts are sore
But where was the compassion when it was needed?
The silent tears and pain went unheeded
We forget the times she was a solid rock
A shoulder to cry on and rely on
But when we needed her no more
We dropped her like an infected sore
We remember the not-so-good times and forget the rest
To justify our heartlessness
We fill our heads with all kinds of excuses
Forgetting she once had “her uses”
When she prayed with us through mourning and grief
When your Mum died, and you lost your niece
When your cupboard was bare, and your purse was empty
Her generosity was full and overflowing with plenty
She gave without expecting anything in return
In gratitude, for she had learned
That every answer to prayer would come through a man
So she gave of herself for her Master’s plan
But when the tables turned, and she was in need
Her heart of despair, you didn’t see
You looked the other way, not turning your cheek
For a slight but turning away from the meek
Now insignificant and unseen
We treat a sister like an enemy, so mean
So if you’ve ever been treated this way, this is for you
The God of Hagar, who is just and fair, sees you
Nothing escapes His tender loving gaze
And though it hurts, come what may
Keep on holding on to the anchor of your soul
He’s got you, this so well you know
So weep not, my sister, He sees it all
Respond to the tug on your heart and answer His call
He’ll make the wrongs right again
And ensure the sun shines after the rain
His healing Love will wash away your pain
Your life will never be the same
