~ written after losing a friend ~
Somewhere, a child is riding his first bike
Somewhere, a man is celebrating a monumental hike
A girl and her friends are out for a birthday
A couple is hugging, wanting the moment to stay
The stores are filled, the roads are full
Cars pass by, people in the everyday life pull
This moment for you seems to stand still
Receiving news that makes even the calmest heart feel ill
You are now left with a giant hole
Tears stream, and the news starts to take its toll
Out there, someone is getting married right now
Out there, a play is ending, the cast taking a bow
But you sit here flooded with grief
Trying to numb it, to forget, to feel relief
We all take turns feeling the cold rivers of pain
Something I wish I could make God come down and explain
We all take turns losing what we cherish
Jobs are lost, relationships break, all loved ones eventually perish
Today has caused me to think
To remember that in my highs, someone else may be on their brink
To remember to share love and light while I still can
And trying to trust my God is with us, though I don’t understand His plan
